The Psychology Department at Simmons is a vibrant and collegial department, offering popular undergraduate majors in Psychology and Neuroscience & Behavior (interdisciplinary program with Biology), as well as an online program in Applied Psychology. Our department is housed in a newly renovated science center, with state-of-the-art teaching and research spaces.
The Department of Psychology is housed in the School of Sciences and Health Professions (SSHP) which was launched in July, 2024. SSHP is a collegial and supportive community of teachers and scholars within a uniquely multidisciplinary School. Job Summary:
The Department of Psychology at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full-time (10-month), Boston-based, contract faculty position (non-tenure track) at the Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor level, starting in Fall 2025. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in psychology, with a specialty in any area of developmental psychology. We invite applications from candidates who share our commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and to working with students from diverse backgrounds and identities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teaching is one of the primary responsibilities of this position. An annual seven-course teaching load is standard for contract faculty, with potential courses including: Developmental Psychology, Lifespan Development, Introduction to Psychological Science, and other courses in areas of interest. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor undergraduate students, participate in curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Simmons community.
Required Qualifications:
Simmons Department of Psychology is seeking candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Candidates must have a PhD in psychology, with specialization in any area of developmental psychology. Candidates must also have experience in teaching at the college level and be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds and identities:
- A PhD (or expected to complete degree requirements by May 2025) in psychology, with specialization in any area of developmental psychology;
- Demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching;
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and in fostering equity and inclusion for all students, through teaching, research, or service.
