DepartmentThe Department of Psychology at Florida State University (FSU) has a well-established, nationally-recognized, top-ranked Master's Degree program in Psychology with a major in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at our branch campus in Panama City, Florida (i.e., FSU Panama City). The FSU ABA Master's program is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and it is a verified course sequence (VCS). FSU Panama City also hosts a Bachelor's Degree program in Psychology, which includes courses in Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental, and Social Psychology, as well as Neuroscience and Behavior Analysis.
We invite applications for a Teaching Faculty position in our Psychology Program at the FSU Panama City campus in Panama City, FL. This position is a 12-month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. The position will begin in Fall 2023. This position will be on-campus at FSU Panama City with in-person instruction and program service responsibilities. Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are a) teaching in both the ABA Master's Program and the undergraduate psychology program at FSU Panama City, b) mentoring graduate students and overseeing clinical capstone studies as the Capstone Coordinator for the ABA program, and c) engaging in service to the ABA program, psychology program, and FSU PC campus.
Qualifications
PhD in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field with doctoral preparation in Behavior Analysis/ABA (degree must be completed by the start date of the position). Experience in the clinical application of ABA across a variety of health-related populations (e.g., autism, aging, mental health, etc.) and a minimum two years of experience teaching at the university level. Must be a doctoral level behavior analyst who meets requirements for teaching in an ABAI-accredited, VCS program. Experience in conducting and overseeing applied research and mentoring student engagement with research and/or clinical projects.
Preferred
Additional preferred qualifications include: certification as a board certified behavior analyst, ability to teach a variety of courses across different areas in behavior analysis and Psychology (e.g., grad-level courses in Ethics, Skinner's Theory of Behaviorism, Research Methods, Basic Principles of Behavior, and a breadth of undergrad areas), experience with BACB credentialing requirements and ABAI accreditation policies, experience working with and mentoring individuals seeking BACB certification, and demonstrated, superior ability to teach high-quality courses at the university level.
Other Information
The FSU ABA Master's program is a non-thesis (ABAI thesis-equivalent), 5-semester (39 credit hours) program. The FSU ABA program trains students to become scientist practitioners, while also leading to BACB certification. Courses in the graduate program consist of core behaviorism classes, a 3-semester, supervised Practicum with BACB experience hours embedded, and specialized courses in ABA applications, including: Ethics, Autism, Performance Management/Supervision, Education, and Mental Health/Aging.
All courses are offered face-to-face in specialized, technology-enhanced classrooms that connect the FSU Panama City and Tallahassee campuses. This allows faculty to interact with students residing at both campuses (and in real time during class). It also allows students to have access to a variety of clinical practicum opportunities. Currently, FSU approved practicum sites provide students supervised experience in the a) the treatment of autism and related disabilities in clinics, homes, and schools, b) child welfare and parent training, and c) school consultation services for k-12 classrooms. These experiences take place in Tallahassee and Panama City communities.
The FSU ABA program was established in 1999 and has graduated over 300 students in the past 24 years. We attract high quality applicants from all over the US with backgrounds in behavior analysis who want to become professional behavior analysts. Our track record exemplifies very strong pass rates of our students for the BCBA exam each year (with several recent years being 100%). Faculty also uphold mentorship of students for their future careers or furthering their studies to doctoral programs.
