Description

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago are seeking a clinical psychologist to join a multidisciplinary Department Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and Pediatric Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine in a nationally-ranked, freestanding children’s hospital located on the medical school campus. Duties are primarily to: 1) conduct screenings and outpatient diagnostic evaluations of adolescents and young adults who experience problems with substance use; 2) provide psychological treatment of and/or referrals for adolescents and young adults with substance use disorders and their families; 3) consult to parents, schools and medical/surgical staff; 4) teach in multidisciplinary child health, mental health, and adolescent medicine education and training programs; and 5) conduct research related to adolescent and young adult substance use disorders.

Lurie Children’s Hospital recognizes the impact of systemic, cultural, social, and economic factors on children and families, and values the diverse identities that build and enrich our hospital and the broader Chicago community. We are committed to welcoming staff and faculty from varied backgrounds because we believe that diversity strengthens the collective fabric of our medical center and fulfills our commitment to address the structural health disparities in the medical care of children, adolescents, and young adults. We seek faculty who share this perspective, consider it important to their professional identity, and are representative of the families and children we serve.

Clinical and/or research experience with adolescents and young adults with problems with substance use is required. A PhD in clinical psychology and APA-approved internship are required, with at least one year of supervised experience with children and adolescents preferred. This position comes with 50% protected research time for the first 3 years of appointment. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a program of research related to adolescent and young adult substance use disorders supported by external funding sources following the initial research support period.

Rank will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full-time position on the Clinician-Educator Faculty track. Start date immediate after licensure in Illinois. Applications will be evaluated as received. Position is open until filled.
