Company History
The year was 2007, and Elizabeth Dosoretz had just given birth to her first child, Dylan, a delightfully “easy” baby boy.
With dual undergraduate degrees in psychology and English from George Washington University and a master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University in New York, you would have expected the high achiever, married to an attorney and surrounded by family in her hometown of Fort Myers, to breeze through motherhood. But blindsided by the sacrifice that motherhood entails, Elizabeth awoke each day feeling more hopeless and distant from her previous life, classic symptoms of postpartum depression. She became a shadow of her former self, relying heavily on her mother. She struggled for months, until her mother finally told her it was time to see a professional and figure out why she felt so “out of sync.” She credits the combination of therapy and an anti-depressant for “gluing me back together.” She went on to have two more sons, Noah and Asher. (Hence, the DNA in Elite DNA Behavioral Health.)
Between her volunteer work with underserved children at the Quality Life Center in Fort Myers and her “really daunting experience” with postpartum depression, Elizabeth realized a need in the community for affordable, readily accessible mental health treatment for children. She opened DNA Comprehensive Therapy Services in 2013 with a focus on children’s services, but the company rapidly expanded to include services for adults as well.
