Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital (FMDH) is a 25-bed Critical Access hospital, located in Northeastern Montana. FMDH is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital. In 2015 and 2016, FMDH was named one of iVantage's Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. Also, in 2015 FMDH was recognized by iVantage and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for an overall excellence in Financial Strength, reflecting top quartile performance among all acute care hospitals in the nation.

Company History
In 1910, A.W. Mahon offered to donate an entire block of land for a hospital. The community accepted the gift and a stock company formed to raise funds for a $15,000 hospital. Frances Hoyt Mahon Memorial Hospital opened its doors on November 21, 1911. At that time, It was the most modern hospital in the state. The name honored Frances Hoyt Mahon, wife of A.W. Mahon and sister to Dr. Hoyt. She was born in 1872 and died in 1907 at age 35, three years before her husband donated the land. The name of the organization officially changed Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in 1914.
