Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides a full range of psychological services to support the academic and behavioral competence of students ages 3-18.
- Utilizes evidence-based best practice in all aspects of work including pre-referral interventions, consultations and evaluations.
- Participates in design, implementation, and evaluation of early interventions with students experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
- Consult s with school staff, parents and others regarding student, classroom, and school-wide needs.
- Administers, scores, and analyzes a variety of psycho-educational evaluations and/or supplemental assessments relevant to individual students. Identify and assess the learning, development, adjustment, and functional capabilities, characteristics, and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Use assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate, research based interventions and programs.
- Develops and helps implement individual, group or system level interventions to improve or resolve academic, social/emotional/behavioral, and mental health needs as they relate to educational progress.
- Provides support, instructions, technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at each level.
- Assists in development and implementation of building-wide programs to support student behavioral and academic success.
- Support s development and implementation of data collection and analysis systems to support data based decision-making.
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to state and federal rules and regulations and district policy and procedures as they pertain to the education of students with disabilities, and professional ethics and standards of school psychology.
- Participates in continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
- Attends building, district, or other meetings as required or directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understands Special Education process and procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy models, practices, and theories.
- Ability to implement standard based instruction and assessment.
- Skill in the use of technology to enhance instruction and communication.
- Ability to work as a contributing member of effective teaching teams.
- Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Skill, dedication and aptitude for working with students.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people with a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in School Psychology or related field; AND,
- State of Montana Educator license with School Psychology endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of graduate program in School Psychology that is approved by NASP or consistent with NASP's Standards for Training and Field Placement Programs in School Psychology
- Completion of supervised internship in school psychology, full-year preferred.
- Prior successful experience in a school environment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
