About you
Exciting opportunities are available for qualified Psychiatrists who want to make a positive impact while working in dynamic, multidisciplinary, and supportive teams.
In New Zealand, Psychiatry is generally practised as a hybrid primary and secondary care specialty, based either in an inpatient unit or within specialist Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs).
We're recruiting across all Psychiatry subspecialties throughout New Zealand.

Positions are available throughout New Zealand with immediate start dates, or you can speak with our recruitment team about your plans to move to New Zealand.
To work as a Psychiatrist (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners must meet competency standards and hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) to practise safely and effectively.

Once you've accepted a position, our Health Immigration team can provide free immigration support for you and your family. Senior Medical Officers are on New Zealand's Green List Tier 1, making you eligible for the Straight to Residence Visa so you can apply for residency before you arrive.

Salary, benefits and leave
Salary:
- The average salary package for Psychiatrists in New Zealand is USD ~$193,814 (NZD $343,500)
- Packages are comprised of a base salary based on experience, plus allowances, and superannuation per the ASMS collective agreement
- Benefits
You will receive:
- an annual continuing medical education (CME) allowance of USD ~$9,027 (NZD $16,000)
- paid 3-month sabbaticals every 6 years
- your indemnity insurance covered by Health NZ
- your professional fees and subscriptions fully reimbursed

Leave
You'll get:
- 6 weeks of annual leave
- generous discretionary sick leave
